New Business Grade Web Hosting

Thursday, September 27, 2018

Hi there,

We're retiring our old web hosting plans & server in favour of our new business grade web hosting plans and new servers.

Why the change?

Digital Guppy once started providing economy web hosting for personal and (very) small business use with not much focus on larger businesses. Over the past few years, we've become a preferred choice for web hosting and IT solutions for small business (with over 80% of our customers being small businesses), and are moving towards this to provide excellent and affordable IT solutions for small businesses.

Our economy server has served it's purpose in getting people online and finding your site, however being an economy server, it's cheap but not so powerful.

Did you know... 53% of visits to mobile sites are abandoned after 3 seconds? With our new server, we've noticed sites which had 6 second load times decrease to 2 seconds.

We've spent the past 6 months analysing usage and researching web solutions to provide you the best possible outcome while keeping the costs affordable which brings me to introduce our new plans which grow and scale in resources as you grow your business, not only does the space increase but the resources to support your space do also! Technical Stuff: As you increase in storage, the CPU and RAM for your account increases now.

  1. Lite - Recommended for small sites with a few pages, personal site or a personal blog (for our home/personal users) (Base resources keeping it simple and affordable)
  2. Starter - Recommended for active blogs, small businesses who need an internet presence (Double the resources of the Lite plan)
  3. Standard -  Recommended for growing businesses, or sites that have a few applications on them (like a blog and eCommerce)  (Triple the resources of the Lite plan)
  4. Premium - Recommended for larger sites, high traffic, few applications and eCommerce sites who need performance. (Quadruple the resources of Lite Plan)

You can view our new plans and get started here.

Not sure what plan suits you best? Reach out to us by email or live chat and we'll be happy to help!

What about existing customers?

We love our existing customers, which is why we're moving to a higher performance servers. Our existing customers are currently on a server which has been tailored for economy and not so much for performance. What this means is while the cost is cheap, it sacrifices on performance.

Existing customers will be migrated across beginning on the 1st of October 2018 and finishing up by the 8th of October 2018 with an increase in performance at no extra charge, to say thanks for being a Digital Guppy Customer!

Existing customers will also need to update their DNS records to point to the new server, which will be emailed out once you've been migrated across.

Digital Guppy will assist new customers with moving them over, simply reply to the email you receive or reach out to our support and we'll update your DNS records for you.

Moving forward, what this means is we're offering better business grade focused web hosting for all of our customers, while still keeping our costs affordable.
